Letting go of anxiety or stress

I’m often amazed by the way our brain works, and how easily it forms patterns. One detrimental pattern is the constant ‘fight or flight’ mode it is in for many people, leading to unnecessary stress even when there’s no need for it. If you notice a rise in stress levels or are just generally going through something that might be difficult to deal with at an emotional level, follow these rituals religiously to make it easier for your mind and body to deal with the situation at hand.

1. DEEP breathing

And breathe

Breathe in… breathe out… breathe in… breathe out

Repeat for as long as you like, you will know when your body feels more at ease

2. Move it

Stretching

I personally prefer to brisk walk or to run the stressful feels off, but you can also try stretching or jogging. Whatever works for you is alright, as long as you feel good doing it. Putting your body in motion puts that fight or flight mode of the mind at ease.

3. Journal

Journaling

I didn’t really buy this one at first BUT I tried it once and realised how much it helps. I do it on a note keeping app on my phone, and as soon as the written (or typed) words are out, they are out of your mind comparatively too.

4. Eat juicy fruits

Eating fruits

No juice, really bite into a fruit. You already know that fruits have all the good stuff that make the body better prepared for difficult situations, so be sure to include them in your diet.

5. Don’t skip breakfast

Breakfast

Some don’t immediately see the connection BUT having even a few almonds in the morning compared to an empty stomach can change your day and mood in a positive way.

Happy gut -> happy body -> happy mind -> happy soul!

P.S. Listen to your body and mind, and see a professional therapist if needed. ❤️
