Healthy communication and conversation tips
Communication is key in all our relationships and not just our work or education. Here are 5 steps to keep in mind for being a pro communicator:
1. Portray your thoughts by establishing your beliefs and needs
2. Listen to others to really understand them and their perspective
3. Speak confidently. I know it is easier said than done but you have to practice it beforehand if need be - not building it up in your mind but really talking in front of a mirror or to a friend or family member for practice.
4. Think rationally. Try not to get emotionally overwhelmed during a difficult or confrontational dialogue.
If you do get overwhelmed then take a break from the conversation and inform the other party that you will be back.
5. Stay calm, positive, and assertive. Being too aggressive is a sign of weakness in communication.
Try these steps and your charm will surely make you a favourite amongst your circle!
